Your experience as a teacher, education technology manager, education technology professional developer, and/or education technology lead, has led to transformational student achievement gains for elementary, middle, and/or high school students. You understand from first-hand experience the highest leverage techniques and strategies racially, culturally, and socioeconomically diverse schools need to align instruction across grade levels and bring out the best in teachers and leaders. Founded in 2004 and named for the first African-American woman to earn her Ph.D. in Mathematics, the award-winning E.L. Haynes Public Charter School serves more than 1,135 students in grades Pre-K3 through  12th grade. E.L. Haynes operates two campuses in the Petworth neighborhood of Northwest Washington, DC, and offers a rigorous educational program designed to prepare students to succeed in the college of their choice.

You will:

Lead Education Technology Strategy

  • Develop a cross-campus education technology strategy that is aligned to the overall academic strategy
  • Support the development of a vision for the role of technology in the classroom
  • Inspire, encourage, and support staff with creative and sustainable technology solutions that support teaching and learning
  • Cultivate an environment that encourages creative and independent use of instructional technology
  • Work with the academic team, principals and technology leads in the development  of a scope and sequence for technological and information literacy skills for teachers and students
  • Help define and develop the role of technology in the classroom
  • Stay abreast of new technologies that have academic and/or instructional value
  • Assist in the management of online learning resources (e.g. Canvas, iReady, Nearpod, Edulastic.)
  • Support the selection, purchase and implementation of educational technology platforms and applications
  • Collaborate with the Student Services Support team on the selection and use of assistive technology for students with disabilities
  • Create educational technology guides and materials prepared for distribution to instructional staff

Lead Education Technology Learning Opportunities

  • Design, coordinate and provide instructional technology learning opportunities for students, staff, and families
  • Respond to (and solicit) staff requests for assistance in the integration of technological and information literacy skills that enhance the educational experience for students into their curricula
  • Maintain a broad knowledge of the curriculum across departments to help faculty identify areas best suited for collaboration across and within departments
  • Provide, as needed, technical support to staff and students

You have: 

  • 1-3 years of experience designing, using, or implementing education technology for a district, system, or classrooms
  • 3-5 years of PK-12 teaching experience
  • Commitment to the E.L. Haynes mission and core values
  • Experience designing and building systems and managing through the change management process, including addressing setbacks and maintaining focus in the face of competing priorities
  • Demonstrated strength in balancing strategy with application and big picture thinking with minute details
  • Experience working independently toward goals, communicating effectively with colleagues, and engaging in 360-degree feedback processes
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multiple high-profile and complex projects simultaneously in a fast-paced work environment
  • Meticulous detail orientation, organization, and time management
  • Demonstrated experience in developing engaging and impactful communications, presentations, and training
  • Track record for developing positive, empathetic, and productive relationships with colleagues and customers punctuated by grace, competence, and warmth
  • Proficiency with Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with the Canvas Learning Management System and Zoom platform
  • A bachelor’s or advanced degree in curriculum and instruction, education administration, education leadership, or other relevant field

You might also have:

  • Previous charter school and/or district  education technology or instructional leadership experience
  • Oral and/or written proficiency in Spanish
  • Experience with Whetstone, iReady, and Nearpod
